Al Talley Memorial Scholarships Awarded To Lindbergh Students

Three Lindbergh High School students were given scholarships in honor of Albert Talley, who died earlier this year.

RENTON, WA - Lindbergh High School recently handed out scholarships to graduating seniors, including three in memory of Albert Talley Sr., the school board member and city booster who died in March. The scholarships are part of a larger 42-year tradition at Lindbergh of awarding funds to college-bound seniors.

The 2017 Lindbergh scholarship winners include: Megan Phillips, $1,000; Molly Le, $750; and Michelle Mendoza, $500, whose scholarships are in memory of Talley; and Amica Huynh, $1,000; and Jamie Costales, $1,000, and Alan Dang, $500, for career and technical education.

Talley died at age 82 at the end of March. He had served on the school board for more than 16 years after being appointed in 2000. In addition to his work in the school district, Talley was a member of the Renton Rotary and the Renton Chamber of Commerce. He was named "citizen of the year" in 2005.
