Mayor’s Office Reorganizes Its Communications Division, Shaves Six Figures Off 2012-2014 Budget

As part of reorganization in the Mayor’s Office, the responsibilities of the Communications Director Preeti Shridhar have changed and effective this month she will serve as the city’s Deputy Public Affairs Administrator. In her new role Shridhar will assume some of the responsibilities formerly held by the assistant chief administrative officer, a position that had been eliminated due to budget reductions, while continuing to lead the city’s communications division.
Shridhar now will also assist in representing Renton on regional committees and task forces, work in collaboration with elected and appointed officials in neighboring communities, and develop and present city-wide strategic plans. She will serve as lead negotiator for the city on many intergovernmental contracts and issues and participate on or lead cross-departmental work groups as part of her new responsibilities. She will develop and implement programs and policies to meet the city’s long-term goals related to diversity and cultural outreach, and will continue to be responsible for all communications strategies.
“Preeti is an effective leader and communicator and I am confident she will be successful in this new assignment,” said Mayor Denis Law. “This reorganization will streamline city operations and result in an overall savings of over $250,000 for the 2013-2014 budget.”
