Renton Community Foundation Launches New Website

If you’re interested in community philanthropy, you might want to check out the Renton Community Foundation’s new website. Designed with donors, potential donors, nonprofit agencies, financial advisors, and the general community in mind, the new website offers much more information than in the past. According to Executive Director, Lynn Bohart, the goal is to become a central philanthropic resource to the community. While this is the first phase of a two-phase build-out of the website, and offers such things as sample bequest language, a donor bill of rights, investment information, how to establish a fund, grant and scholarship information, and more, the second phase will include links to regional and national philanthropic sources and articles on efficient fundraising and grantmaking.

“Community foundations typically don’t champion one cause over another,” says Bohart. “We work on behalf of the entire community, granting money to worthy causes and helping emerging nonprofits take root. So, our long-term goal is to be a source of information anyone can use.”

The new website will also provide quarterly profiles on donors who have chosen to establish charitable funds, as well as specific funds that have impacted important causes. This quarter, Jim and Joy Poff are profiled for establishing the “Joy Poff Fund for Education and Families” last year. The “Charles F. Custer Historical Society Fund” is also profiled, offering a nice overview of our own Renton History Museum and how grants are used to preserve our local history.
