Dear Editor:
It is so ironic that tonight the Mayor will be passing a proclamation honoring April as Volunteers Month praising citizen engagement in the community while at the same time recommending the Council squash the all-volunteer Save the Library effort that has involved thousands of people in the petition drive as one of the first official acts during Volunteers Month.
City Council members and Mayor Law, I urge you to be faithful to democracy and our first amendment rights (through a valid petition certified by King Couny) and to your own Proclamation for Volunteer Month encouraging citizen engagement for a better Renton community. These are values to support not be against!
