  • Why Go: A group of employees from Renton School District’s Department of Learning and Teaching has started a Relay for Life team.  They are “relay-ing” for one particular member of their department who is currently battling cancer. Eat at Torero’s Mexican Restaurant at Rainier Ave. in Renton on Friday, June 1 and the restaurant will donate 10% of all sales to American Cancer Society for everyone who brings the group’s flyer! Please print the flyer from this post (uploaded as picture) or from the team website, www.rsddltrelay.blogspot.com

First Friday in Renton

  • Where/When: and on 3rd St., Friday June, 1 from 6-9 p.m.
  • Why Go: Meet artist Mike Mullin and check out his “pop culture” themed art.
  • Cost: Free.

 

Carnival at Family Circle Learning Center 

  • Where/When: Family Circle Learning Center, 10717 SE 172nd St. on Friday, June 1 from 6-8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Free fun for the whole family, including a bouncy house, games, prizes and popcorn for ages 2-12.
  • Cost: Free

 

  • Where/When: , 17604 108th Ave SE on Saturday, June 2 from 9 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Renton Youth Advocacy Center (RYAC) Car Wash is a fundraiser for the non-profit organization which is staffed completely by volunteers, including Lindbergh staff, firefighters, medics, police officers, as well as local business owners. Check out their website for more information: www.rentonyac.org

Stop & Swap

  • Where/When: Renton Memorial Stadium south parking lot, 405 Logan Ave. N. on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Why Go: One person’s trash may be someone else’s treasure. Swing by the Reuse It! Renton Swap to drop-off your reusable, unwanted items. The City of Renton is holding this free one-day event to help people swap stuff with their neighbors and help divert quality goods from the waste-stream. 
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: , 800 N 10th Place at , on Sunday, June 3 starting at 8 a.m.
  • Why Go: Running is more fun with friends!
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • When/Where: Auditorium, 16426 128th Ave SE on Sunday, June 3 at 1 p.m.
  • Why Go: Jessica will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her caring nature, and her love for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the “Jessica Scholl Benevolent Fund” has been set up at BECU. A portion will be donated to support domestic or teen violence victim programs in Renton. Sympathy cards may be sent to Douglas and Stephanie Scholl at P.O. Box 1942; Auburn, WA 98071-1942.
