Renton Icon King Parker Dies, Was Councilman For 16 Years

King Parker died Tuesday night. He was a former Renton councilman and owner of King & Bunny's appliance store.

RENTON, WA - A Renton icon died on Tuesday night. King Parker served on the City Council for 16 years and was the owner of King & Bunny's appliance store in the Renton Highlands. Parker, 78, retired from the Renton City Council in 2011.

The city lowered flags to half-staff on Wednesday in his honor.

Parker opened King & Bunny's in 1982, originally running the store out of a 600 square-foot portable building. The store is now located along Sunset Boulevard near the intersection of Duvall Avenue Northeast.

According to the Renton School District, Parker worked with former school board member Al Talley Sr. to create the School Appreciation Patrol. Parker and Talley baked treats for teachers and school staff as a sign of appreciation. Talley died on March 30 at age 82.
