Renton's Third Street Safeway Makes List Of Luckiest

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, Washington’s Lottery is helping players across the state find their pot of gold. Each year Washington’s Lottery names its “Luckiest Stores” – retailers that sold the most winning tickets with prizes of $1,000 or more the previous year – from six regions around the state: Puget Sound, Olympic Peninsula, Tri-Cities, central Washington, southwest Washington and eastern Washington.

The “Luckiest Store” in the Puget Sound region is the Safeway store at 4700 Yelm Highway Southeast in Lacey with the most winning tickets of prizes worth $1,000 or more in 2011.

The Hilltop Red Apple on Beacon Ave. South in Seattle is a regular to this yearly list and took third place this time around. “We’re hoping for first place next year,” said one of the store managers, Marie. “We love working with our regular customers. We used to have a customer who came in and purchased her regular groceries at our store every day. I told her about a great Lotto deal and she decided to buy a ticket on a whim – thank goodness she did because that ticket was worth $6 million!”

Rounding out the top 10 retailers in the Puget Sound region are:

• Safeway at 4700 Yelm Highway SE. in Lacey had 18 big wins
• Aloha Market at 7762 Beacon Ave. S. in Seattle had 15 big wins
• Hilltop Red Apple Market at 2701 Beacon Ave. S. in Seattle had 14 big wins
• Safeway at 26916 Maple Valley Black Diamond Rd. SE. in Maple Valley also had 14 big Wins
• Fred Meyer at 801 Auburn Way N. in Auburn had 13 big wins
• Fred Meyer at 10201 Southeast 240^th Street in Kent also had 13 big wins
• Fred Meyer at 13000 Lake City Way NE. in Seattle had 12 big wins
• Safeway at 13308 Meridian E. in Puyallup also had 12 big wins
• Safeway at 200 South Third Street in Renton also had 12 big wins
• Fred Meyer at 1100 North Meridian in Puyallup also had 12 big wins
