Update: Negligent Driving Cited as Cause for I-405 Accident
A rolled over semi on southbound I-405 near State Route 167 caused a heavy back up on Tuesday morning as all lanes were blocked for nearly three hours.
All lanes on southbound Interstate 405 just south of State Route 167 were blocked for nearly three hours Tuesday morning after a semi-truck rolled over in a collision with three other vehicles.
The accident was reported at 7:13 a.m. at milepost 2 on southbound I-405, according to a Washington State Patrol memo.
The three other vehicles were slowing to a stop when the semi-truck struck the first vehicle, which collided with the second vehicle. The semi reportedly over-corrected, colliding with the third vehicle before rolling onto its side and blocking all lanes.
No injuries were reported. One of the three vehicle was totaled while the other two were driven from the scene.
The 29-year-old driver of the semi-truck from Olympia was to face a charge of second-degree negligent driving.
All lanes were reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
