1. Washington's first synagogue was in Spokane. A founder's home is up for historic preservation. (spokanepublicradio.org) — Spokane’s Historic Preservation Society is moving to protect the Baum House, home to some of the city’s earliest Jewish settlers and linked to Washington’s first synagogue, Temple Emanu-El. City Council is expected to approve adding the Browne’s Addition home to Spokane’s Register of Historic Places early next year, highlighting the Baums’ role in local religious and civic life.
   

2. Record sales expected for 43rd Christmas Tree Elegance (kxly.com) — Spokane families can still visit Christmas Tree Elegance at the Davenport Hotel today, buy $1 raffle tickets, and support the Spokane Symphony’s biggest fundraiser. Sixteen themed trees and a Father Christmas are up for grabs, with ticket sales expected to break last year’s 526,000-ticket record. Raffle sales end at 4 p.m., with winners announced downtown this evening.
   

3. Spokane County firefighters ensure safety at RV fire (khq.com) — Spokane County Fire District 4 crews rushed to a shop and RV fire Friday night after reports someone might be trapped, only to find the RV empty and everyone safe. Working with District 9, firefighters quickly knocked down heavy flames and are using the incident to remind residents to handle heating sources carefully this winter.

Vintage Pontiacs are disappearing, but enthusiasts are finding them (usatoday.com) — Spokane readers of The Spokesman-Review helped turn a small Indiana reporter’s column on vintage Pontiacs into a nationwide conversation, sharing photos and stories of their classic cars. The writer describes hearing from enthusiasts across the country, reflecting on why older Pontiacs are disappearing and inviting more owners to keep the stories of these vehicles alive.
