Here are the top three stories in Spokane today:

  1. The Spokane City Council will take another week to decide which organization will be awarded a contract to operate a new homeless shelter that will house those living at Camp Hope, a homeless site of more than 300 people off I-90 and Freya. The Salvation Army, the Guardians Foundation, and Jewels Helping Hands have each submitted a proposal to operate the shelter. At Monday night's council meeting, many showed up to support Jewels Helping Hands. The organization asked the city for $1 million to buy more than 120 tiny homes with an additional $10 million for staffing, mental health, and addiction onsite treatment. (KREM.com)
  2. The median home price in Spokane County reached an all-time high in March, increasing by over 26 percent. Data from the Spokane Association of Realtors showed that the median closing price for homes on less than one acre rose to $429,998 from $340,550 last year. Rob Higgins, the association’s executive officer, said that strong demand and lack of available homes are driving up prices. (The Spokesman Review)
  3. Spokane Police are investigating a fatal shooting in North Central Spokane. Multiple callers reported hearing gunshots and a car crash. When the officers reached the scene near W. Augusta and N. Wall Street they found a man lying in the road, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. (KREM.com)
