🌱 Spokane Flights Canceled + SPS Parent Speaks Out Re: Son's Assault

Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:

  1. The mother of a Spokane Public School student is speaking out after her son's assault went unreported. The woman spoke to KREM 2 under anonymity for fear of retaliation against her son, a high school freshman. The FBI is currently investigating complaints that the district is not reporting incidences of violent crimes happening at the schools. (KREM.com)
  2. Dr. Kyle Varner is heading back home to Spokane after spending the last three weeks helping refugees escape from Ukraine into Poland. Varner, who works at Providence Holy Family, worked at a medical aid station at the border assisting adults and children with minor illnesses. Varner said that he will return to Ukraine if more help is needed. (KXLY Spokane)
  3. 64 Alaska Airlines flights arriving and departing from Seattle, Boise and Spokane were canceled yesterday, the first day Alaska Airlines pilots picketed for better job security and schedules. 120 flights in total were canceled on Friday. According to the Air Lines Pilots Association, the pilots are picketing for these and other issues on their days off. (KHQ Right Now)
