Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:

  1. Spokane Valley received a 3.5-acre land donation from Avista Corp. for parks and trails. This is the second time in four months that the city has received a major land donation. The land is near the Spokane River at Trent Avenue and is worth approximately $800,000. (KHQ Right Now)
  2. Last Thursday and Saturday, thieves stole the catalytic converters from two 14-passenger vans belonging to the Corbin Senior Activity Center, leaving members stranded. The buses are essential to getting the seniors out and social. The Center's board member, Jan Charbonneau, stated that since both vans are out of commission, the center will probably have to cancel day tours for the rest of the month. (FOX 28 Spokane)
  3. A teenager driving at high speeds on SR 291 crashed into the southbound shoulder and embankment causing the car to roll over and land on its top, said Washington State Patrol. The 17-year-old driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol but was cited for reckless driving. The teen's vehicle, a 2004 Volkswagon Jetta, was totaled in the crash. (KXLY)
