Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:
- Just west of Spokane, Airway Heights police gave chase to a man who had reportedly shot a woman in the arm and then drove away with her baby in a red minivan. This happened Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. after police were called to a scene near Pacific and Treeline for a double shooting. The man, who had gunshot wounds, drove on I-90 and stopped at the entrance of the Sacred Heart Emergency Room where a standoff resulted. (KHQ)
- The Upper Columbia United Tribes (UCUT) plan on bringing salmon back to the Spokane and Columbia Rivers. UCUT procured over $3M to reintroduce anadromous fish to the areas upstream of Chief Joseph, Grand Coulee, and Spokane River dams. For over 110 years, salmon have been blocked from the upper Columbia as a result of the development of five hydropower dams without fish passage facilities. (KXLY Spokane)
- Mt. Spokane, 49 Degrees North, Silver, Schweitzer, and Lookout Pass ski resorts are preparing to close for the season. The final days leading up to their closures will be filled with special events and discounted or free passes. All of the mountain resorts will be closed by Apr. 17. (KXLY Spokane)
