Zag Dining’s Empty Bowls Event Supports Campus Kitchens at Gonzaga
Students, staff and community members gathered this month for the annual Empty Bowls event at Gonzaga University

Students, staff and community members gathered this month for the annual Empty Bowls event at Gonzaga University, hosted by Zag Dining in partnership with the Center for Community Engagement.
The event featured handcrafted bowls and a rotating menu of soups prepared by Zag Dining chefs, including Mindful Cream of Chicken, Chinese Hot and Sour, and Simple Roast Curried Fall Vegetable. More than several dozen bowls were purchased throughout the day.
Proceeds from the event directly support Gonzaga Campus Kitchens, a program dedicated to combating food insecurity and hunger in the local community.

“Empty Bowls is a special event that brings our campus together for a great cause,” said Pat Clelland, District Manager @ Gonzaga University for Zag Dining. “It’s a meaningful way to raise awareness about food insecurity, fortify community, collaborate with Gonzaga’s Center for Community Engagement, and to celebrate the culinary talents of our team.”
Empty Bowls is part of a national movement using art and food to raise awareness and funds for hunger relief initiatives. At Gonzaga, the event brings students and staff together in support of sustainable food recovery and distribution efforts throughout the Spokane area.
