Zag Dining’s Voluntary Meal Plan Push Kicks Off Strong at Gonzaga

Zag Dining at Gonzaga University opened the school year with a successful push to grow participation in its Voluntary Meal Plan program

Zag Dining at Gonzaga University opened the school year with a successful push to grow participation in its Voluntary Meal Plan program, topping last year’s numbers and drawing strong student interest. Between August 22 and September 10, 192 plans were sold to juniors, seniors, graduate, law, and commuter students—surpassing the previous year’s sales.

To sweeten the deal, every purchase during the promotion period came with a punch card for a free Starbucks beverage each week throughout the Fall semester. The incentive quickly became a popular draw. One student summed up the buzz on campus, saying: “That is such a great deal. I don’t have one but I am definitely getting one now!”

The campaign was part of Sodexo’s national Food Vibes Only promotion, which ran across nearly 20 campuses in the West Region and many more nationwide. At Gonzaga, the Zag Dining team went all-in with social media campaigns and on-the-ground outreach.

Tabling events were set up at Café Lawte, the law school café, and on Bulldog Alley, one of the busiest walkways on campus. Students were greeted with giveaways ranging from t-shirts and notepads to lip balms, string bags, and chances to spin the prize wheel. The fun, high-energy setup helped spread word of the meal plan promotion and encouraged students to connect with the Zag Dining team directly.
