1 Arrested After 10-Year-Old Girl Killed In Milwaukee: Police

The girl's death was an "apparent homicide," the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said.

MILWAUKEE, WI — One person was arrested Friday in connection to a 10-year-old girl's killing in Milwaukee's northwestern side Thursday night, the Milwaukee Police Department announced.

The girl was killed with blunt force trauma on the 4700 block of N. 44th Street and a person is in custody, police said in a statement.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office called the death an "apparent homicide." The office will perform an autopsy Friday.

This is the second death in Milwaukee overnight Thursday — a triple shooting in a club on 524 N. Water Street left a 31-year-old woman dead, police said.

The girl's death would make a sixth homicide since Tuesday, per medical examiner's office data and the report of the woman being killed.

There have been 33 homicides in Milwaukee County since 2022 started without counting the two deaths on Thursday, medical examiner office data showed. Of the people killed since the start of the year, 30 were people of color.
