Milwaukee outlines possible plans for former Northridge Mall site (wisn.com) — Milwaukee officials are mapping out the future of the former Northridge Mall, now Granville Station, and want neighbors’ input before picking a developer. A new Granville 2.0 Vision Report highlights stagnant spending, vacant storefronts, and residents’ calls for big amenities like recreation and entertainment. Another public listening session is set for Jan. 21 to help shape the project’s direction.

MPS rejects Pius proposal to build sports complex at a public park (jsonline.com) — Milwaukee Public Schools board members have rejected any long-term lease that would let Pius XI Catholic High School build a private sports complex on Dyer Playfield, a public park on the city’s west side. The decision keeps the playfield under public control as Milwaukee Recreation plans a future equity-focused revitalization with community input.

Milwaukee man accused of sexually assaulting 83-year-old woman in his care (wisn.com) — An 83-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted by a Milwaukee caregiver at a senior living facility in nearby Franklin, leading to serious felony charges. Police say the man later made repeated threatening calls and demands for money, prompting investigators to bar him from the facility while the case proceeds through the courts.
   

4. Art, lights and holiday spirit take over downtown Milwaukee (tmj4.com) — Downtown Milwaukee is glowing with an expanded Ornament Trail along Wisconsin Avenue, featuring 20 giant artist-painted ornaments with local ties. Community Spirit Park, part of the 27th Annual Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival, showcases 130 student-decorated trees and is free to visit throughout the holiday season, offering families a colorful, walkable way to enjoy the city at night.
   

5. Milwaukee School Board to consider tighter limits on police in schools (jsonline.com) — Milwaukee Public Schools leaders are weighing new limits on how school resource officers operate in city high schools, including keeping police out of non-criminal discipline and requiring more detailed public reporting. A resolution headed to a January committee would direct Superintendent Brenda Cassellius to tighten the district’s agreement with Milwaukee police, after local youth and advocacy groups raised concerns about disproportionate impacts on Black and disabled students.
