1 Killed In Crash Near Oklahoma Avenue After Police Chase

West Allis police said they pulled someone over when a truck sped by and later crashed on Oklahoma Avenue killing its driver.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A pickup truck crashed on 43rd Street near Oklahoma Avenue, killing its 24-year-old driver, after a West Allis police chase early Tuesday morning, police said.

Police had pulled someone over to conduct and OWI investigation near 57th Street and Lincoln Avenue, but amid the investigation, a pickup truck sped by down Lincoln Avenue, police said. An officer tracked the truck and tried to stop it, but it continued to flee, according to a news release.

The pickup truck went down Miller Parkway and sped through a red light at 43rd Street and West Oklahoma Avenue, where another car hit it, police said. The truck then lost control and hit a parked vehicle before crashing into a tree, according to police.

The pickup truck's driver, a man from Milwaukee, was killed in the crash, but no bystanders or officers were hurt, police said.
