WEST ALLIS, WI — Two contractors from a pyrotechnic company were injured Tuesday when an early detonation happened toward the end of West Allis' July 4th fireworks, officials said.

No spectators were injured, the city said in a news release, but the two employees from Spielbauer Fireworks Co. were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and brought to a hospital.

The incident comes as the city temporarily moved its fireworks display from the Wisconsin State Fair Park to the West Allis Athletic Complex because of construction, the news release said. Officials said the new location was picked because of its size, ability to launch fireworks, and compliance with National Fire Protection Association standards.
