Up To 8 Inches Of Heavy Snow Expected In Milwaukee Area Thursday: NWS

A winter weather watch is in effect across southern Wisconsin Thursday amid a forecast of heavy snow closer to the lake.

WISCONSIN — Much of southeastern Wisconsin could be seeing around 5-8 inches of heavy snow on Thursday with higher totals expected closer to the lake, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow could come across the region by the early morning and last into the evening amid wind gusts as high as 35 mph, potentially making travel very difficult for the morning and evening commutes, according to the NWS.

The NWS said another banded situation appears likely with higher amounts localized in the heaviest bands and closer to the Lake Michigan shoreline. In a tweet Wednesday morning, the NWS said we are dealing with "another game of where will the snow band set up."
