Wind Chills Below Freezing In Milwaukee Area During 'Coldest Air' Of Winter
The coldest air of the season has settled over southern Wisconsin on Tuesday, forecasters said.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Bitterly cold wind chills going from 20 to 30 degrees below zero are expected in parts of southern Wisconsin, including the Milwaukee area, late Tuesday and early Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported.
A wind chill advisory is in effect for parts of southern Wisconsin from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 12 p.m. Thursday, forecasters said. Cities like Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and Waukesha will be affected.
"The coldest air of the season has settled over southern Wisconsin" on Tuesday, forecasters said in a statement. Wind chills going down to 30 degrees below zero could cause frostbite in exposed skin in as little time as 30 minutes.

Warmer air is expected to return Thursday, as forecasters said the day will be mostly cloudy with a high of 30. However, there will be a 30 percent chance of snow showers in the afternoon.

Wednesday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 10. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. West wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 15 by 4 a.m. Wind chill values between -10 and zero. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Thursday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 8. North wind 10 to 15 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 18. North wind 10 to 15 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 5. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
