Wind Chills 25 Below, Bitter Cold In Store For Southeast WI Thursday

Light snow and below zero wind chills are expected in the Milwaukee area, with chances of arctic cold lingering into the weekend.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Freezing wind chill and light snow are likely for parts of south central and southeast Wisconsin Friday, while the National Weather Service said that the bitter cold is expected to linger into Friday.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued Thursday to southern Wisconsin, including Milwaukee and Waukesha counties, for bitter wind chill from 15 to 25 degrees below zero west of the area, forecasters said. Areas farther east may get wind chills down from 10 to 15 degrees below zero.

Light snow up to half an inch is expected north of Madison and Milwaukee, forecasters said. People out in the bitter cold may risk hypothermia without protective clothing, according to AccuWeather.com.

National forecasters said bitter cold wind chills are likely to stay in the Milwaukee area early Friday morning, and there's a chance of light freezing rain or drizzle Saturday afternoon or evening.

Southeast Wisconsin will be hit again with another "arctic air mass" on Sunday, and forecasters said wind chill values down to 25 below zero expected Sunday night and Monday morning.

Today: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 18. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before 7 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 3. Wind chill values between -10 and zero. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 15. Wind chill values between -10 and zero. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. Wind chill values between -5 and zero. South wind 5 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 28. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of freezing rain between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday: Sunny, with a temperature falling to around 13 by 5 p.m. Blustery, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -1. West wind around 15 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 8.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -1.
