Bomb Threat To School Near Madison Causes Lockdown, 1 In Custody

A school near Madison was locked down after an online threat and police have one person in custody.

MADISON, WI — A charter school in Monona, a city near southern Madison, was under lockdown after someone made a bomb threat against the school online.

One City Schools was evacuated by police after a parent called after finding a bomb threat against the school online, school spokesperson Gail Wiseman told Patch.

The Fitchburg Police Department has taken the person who made the threat into custody, and police called the threat a mental health incident, Wiseman said. It's not clear what the person's relationship to the school was.

There's no threat to the surrounding community or the school, but school will be closed until Friday.

"We're sorry school can't be in session, but it will be open tomorrow," Wiseman said.

Law enforcement from Monona, McFarland and Fitchburg responded to the bomb threat.
