MILWAUKEE, WI — Officials from the Republican National Convention appear to favor Milwaukee over cities like Nashville and Salt Lake City in a tour with former Gov. Scott Walker on Thursday.

Unnamed officials named Milwaukee a "frontrunner" to host the 2024 Republican National Convention, Politico reported in a newsletter.

"Look who I'm with at the Fiserv Forum," Walker said in a tweet. Photos showed him with former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and a 2024 RNC logo displayed on the overhead monitors.

The visit includes tours of venues, accommodations and the "city as a whole," travel bureau VISIT Milwaukee said in a statement. Hosting the convention could rake in nearly $200 million and bring around 45,000 visitors.

“Milwaukee is pursuing the RNC for the same reason it pursued the (Democratic National Convention),” president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee Peggy Williams-Smith said. “To bring hundreds of millions of dollars in near- and long-term economic benefit to our restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and venues.”
