Milwaukee Neighborhood Featured In New York Times Travel List

MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee neighborhood landed in a travel list put together by The New York Times on Monday.

Bronzeville made No. 49 in the Times' "52 Places for a Changed World" list for its thriving business and the reopening of the famed America's Black Holocaust Museum.

2022's list shows destinations where visitors can be be part of the solution to problems like overtourism and climate change, The New York Times reported. The places are recognized for changes like fragile communities are being supported, for example.

Some businesses highlighted in the blurb were Gee's Clippers, The Bronzeville Collective MKE and Maranta Plant Shop. America's Black Holocaust Museum, which is set to open February 25, 2022, was also recognized.

Alderwoman Milele Coggs, who represents Milwaukee's 6th District, said she was "incredibly proud" that Bronzeville was included in the list.

"I want to thank the countless people, community groups, neighborhood leaders and other stakeholders who have contributed to the revitalization of Bronzeville over recent years," Coggs said. "This recognition is yet another way to validate the hard work and dedication of all those involved."
