MILWAUKEE, WI —President Donald Trump urged police to "get tough" in a Wednesday-morning Twitter post after someone alerted him that a Molotov cocktail was thrown at Milwaukee police during civil unrest Tuesday night.

According to Milwaukee Police, at just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, a protester threw a Molotov cocktail at police officers near 6th Street and McKinley Ave. in Milwaukee's Schlitz Park neighborhood, located just west of the Milwaukee River near MATC.

Police said the device did not ignite, and appeared to be fashioned out of common household items including a plastic water bottle.
