Popular baby names in the Badger State were sampled from Social Security card applications, the administration said.
WISCONSIN — The roundup of popular Wisconsin baby names in 2021 showed a strong comeback for baby names that were popular the previous year: Names like Henry and Olivia continued to top the charts like they did in 2020, data from the Social Security Administration showed.
Oliver and Charlotte were the heavyweight champions that Wisconsin parents chose for their babies in 2021, according to the administration, which released its annual Popular Baby Names by state in May.
In all the babies born in the Badger State, parents named 336 babies Oliver and 290 babies Charlotte, records showed. Popular baby names were sampled from Social Security card applications, the administration said.

Oliver and Charlotte remained the top names for baby girls and boys in 2021 and 2022, but some names shuffled below. Henry moved up one spot and unseated Liam for spot No. 2 in 2021, meanwhile Emma moved up and replaced Evelyn for spot No. 3 in top name for girls this year.
Nationally, Liam, Noah and Oliver once again were the most popular names for boys. For girls, parents liked Olivia, Emma and Charlotte the best. Olivia and Emma were the top girl names in 2020, but Charlotte overtook Ava as the No. 3 name last year.
The Social Security Administration started releasing the annual list in 1997, with names dating back to 1880. The agency also notes that popular culture influences baby names.
Over the past 100 years, the male name Michael has held the top spot most often at 44 times, while the female name Mary has been ranked No. 1 for 35 times over the same period.
