Family and friends are mourning a devoted dad who leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter and was weeks away from a wedding celebration abroad.

• Milwaukee Rep announces opening date, first production for Herro-Franke studio (biztimes.com subscription) — Milwaukee theater fans can look forward to the newly reimagined Herro-Franke Studio at Milwaukee Rep opening with Ayad Akhtar’s play “McNeal” from Feb. 10 to March 22. The intimate black-box space now offers flexible seating, expanded production capabilities, and upgraded amenities as part of the broader Associated Bank Theater Center renovation project.

• 14-year-old robbed at gunpoint trying to sell shoes, 2 arrested (wisn.com) — A Milwaukee 14-year-old was robbed at gunpoint in nearby Cudahy while trying to sell $200 shoes, leading to the arrest of two South Milwaukee teens and recovery of the gun and shoes. Cudahy and South Milwaukee police, along with Milwaukee County juvenile and criminal justice facilities, are now handling referred armed robbery charges.
