Storm Could Bring 6 Inches Of Snow To Southern Wisconsin By Friday
A winter storm could drop six inches of snow or more on Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties by Friday, the National Weather Service said.
MILWAUKEE, WI — A winter storm watch starts Thursday evening and will last into Friday as the National Weather Service forecasts heavy snow and winds that could make travel difficult in southern Wisconsin.
Impacted areas could include Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties and all of southern Wisconsin. Six inches of snow or more could accumulate with northeast winds gusting up to 35 mph, the NWS said. Areas could see blowing and drifting snow, especially within several miles of Lake Michigan, the weather agency said.
The snow is expected to come in Thursday evening and last through Friday morning, the NWS said. Travel could become very difficult with patchy blowing snow possibly reducing visibility. The morning and evening commutes could be impacted.

The storm watch will last from 6 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties, the NWS said.
The lake could enhance snowfall totals for lakeshore areas, the NWS said. The precipitation could start wetter and heavier and then become more fluffy.

The NWS said there is an 80 percent chance of over 6 inches of snow in Waukesha County and a 79 percent chance in Milwaukee.
