Heat Wave Could Hit WI Next Week After Chance Of Storms Over Weekend

A heat wave that has gripped much of America's south could be headed into the Midwest and Wisconsin next week, forecasters said.

WISCONSIN — Much of Wisconsin could have a sunny and pleasant weekend ahead with some chances for storms before much warmer temperatures could arrive next week, according to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan.

The chances of storms and showers over the weekend are mainly in the afternoon and evening hours, a tweet from the NWS said.

Other parts of America like Arizona and Texas have been dealing with the heat wave for days now, with new records for 100-degree streaks, according to The Weather Channel. On Wednesday, the NWS in Phoenix logged a high of 119 degrees.

The Weather Channel points out that the heat could sweep into the north eventually, starting in the northern plains by the weekend and then much of the Midwest by Wednesday.

Friday: A sunny day and a high around 81. Overnight brings a 20 percent chance of showers.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of rain or storms in the afternoon, otherwise mostly sunny and a high around 82. A 30 percent chance of showers into the evening.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and storms in the afternoon, otherwise sunny with a high around 82. More showers possible overnight.

Monday: A sunny day with a high around 82. A small chance of showers or thunderstorms overnight.

Tuesday: A mostly sunny day with a high around 84 and a chance of showers and storms at night.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and storms with a high around 86.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 90 but a 20 percent chance of showers or storms.
