To crack the top 10 in Wisconsin this year, ZIP codes needed an average household income of at least $170,000.

MILWAUKEE, WI — The wealthiest ZIP codes in Wisconsin feature several high-income areas near Milwaukee, according to new census data compiled by IncomeByZipcode.com.

The site analyzed the latest five-year estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey to rank Wisconsin’s richest ZIP codes by mean household income. Each ZIP code included had at least 500 residents and a reasonable margin of error.

The report found that 53097 in Mequon is Wisconsin’s wealthiest ZIP code, with an average household income of $225,641 and a median household income of $150,391.

The suburban community of roughly 7,300 residents sits north of Milwaukee and is known for its large homes and high-performing schools.
