WI Weather: Slight Chance Of Snowy Storms In The South Parts Of The State

Southeast Wisconsin sits on the "northern fringes of a storm system" and could see some light snow despite a warm patch Wednesday.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A mix of rain and snow is expected in southeast Wisconsin late Thursday night after a patch of warm weather, the National Weather Service reported.

"Far southeast Wisconsin will remain on the northern fringes of a storm system and may still see light snow accumulation Thursday afternoon," the weather service said in a statement. There won't be any snow if the storm moves south, but it will still be a windy and cold day, forecasters added.

Wednesday is expected to be cloudy with a high of 50 during the day, which is a relief from frigid temperatures for most of January and February if the storm system to the south doesn't disrupt warm temperatures.

A hazardous weather outlook was given for a possible wintry mix or light snow late Thursday night that could cause slick conditions in Kenosha, Racine, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Washington counties.

Higher amounts of snow will hit Wisconsin's southern neighbors like Illinois and are expected to trend southward away from the southeast Wisconsin area, forecasters added.
