- The Huntsville City Council is scheduled to vote on an amended hands-free ordinance, which expands on the Alabama-wide law making it illegal to hold a cell phone behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. City Councilman David Little hopes to strengthen the city's laws that restrict cell phone use, including added measures prohibiting drivers from texting, taking photos or videos, and using voice-to-text technology. The Huntsville City Council is expected to vote on this amended ordinance on Thursday, Sep. 14, and if passed, the measures would go into effect in January. (WHNT News 19)
- The popular musical "Mean Girls" will be coming to Huntsville, with five productions at the Von Braun Center from Dec. 15-17. The production will feature the same iconic characters from Tina Fey’s 2004 movie; the musical first appeared on Broadway from 2018 to 2021. Now, the show will be making a stop in Huntsville during its second national run. Tickets are available here. (WHNT News 19)
- The Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is in the running for the No. 1 small airport in the country for its third consecutive year. USA Today’s "10Best Readers’ Choice Awards" has included HSV as one of 20 contenders for this year's list, which highlights top-notch attractions and businesses in different cities. Voting continues through Monday, Oct. 2 online. (Huntsville Business Journal)
