Applications open for UAH cybersecurity, engineering scholarships (rocketcitynow.com) — UAH in Huntsville is now accepting applications for generous cybersecurity scholarships that fully cover tuition and provide sizable stipends starting in Fall 2026. Local students in cybersecurity-related majors can apply for the federal SFS and DoD Cyber Service Academy programs, but must commit to summer internships, maintain strong GPAs, and work for federal agencies after graduation. Applications are due online by January 28, 2026.

Michael Joseph Sorocak, Newton Falls, Ohio (wkbn.com) — Huntsville readers are noting the passing of Michael “Mike” Sorocak, 86, who recently moved here after decades in Mobile to be closer to family and died at his Huntsville home. The Ohio native built a long career in the chemical industry, was active in church and civic life, and leaves behind children, grandchildren, and extended family. Services will be private in Ohio, with memorial donations suggested to children’s and faith-based charities.
