On February 15, 2022, at 8:28 p.m. HPD officers responded to I565 WB at Exit 3 for a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.

Investigators believe the incident began as a domestic dispute when the involved pulled off the roadway. The pedestrian exited the vehicle and ended in the roadway before being struck by an oncoming vehicle traveling westbound.
39-year-old Joseph Lester Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and no charges are expected at this time.
