Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:

  1. An update to a news story from yesterday: Huntsville City Councilman Devyn Keith has been sentenced after pleading guilty to two of the four shoplifting charges against him. As part of a plea negotiation, Keith was sentenced to 90 days suspended concurrent with probation for two years on one charge, and 180 days suspended and 50 hours of community service for the other charge. In February 2023, Keith was arrested for allegedly shoplifting merchandise from a Huntsville Walmart and was later charged with three additional thefts. Keith has issued a statement and apologized for his actions. (WHNT)
  2. A shooting at Alabama A&M University on Tuesday left two people injured. The campus was placed on lockdown, although a spokesperson for the Huntsville Police Department said there was not an active shooter at the school. Investigators believe the shooting was the result of an argument between two individuals who each shot the other. Both individuals had minor injuries. One remains in the hospital for treatment, and Willie Brandon Nance, 23, has been taken into custody on a charge of aggravated assault. (WAFF)
  3. This Saturday, Aug. 26, the Worship 94.5 Live Concert Series will be taking place at Trinity United Methodist Church. This event will run from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and will feature music by several popular gospel music stars. Grammy award nominee James Fortune will take the stage along with Angel Taylor from "The Voice," and Dove award winner Dante Bowe. Click here to learn more or buy tickets. (WAAY TV)
