Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:
- The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is getting ready for some upcoming projects in the Huntsville area. I-565 is set to be widened, with construction slated to begin next spring. A widening project for U.S. 72 does not yet have a start date, although the ALDOT is currently preparing environmental documentation. Seth Burkett, a spokesman for the ALDOT, said that the construction on U.S. 72 will span from Providence Main to County Line Road and will include replacing bridges and adding a lane in each direction for a total of six lanes. - A rollover crash on Monday, Aug. 21, left one woman with life-threatening injuries. According to the Huntsville Police Department, the incident occurred near North Shore Drive and Eastern Bypass. The collision involved one vehicle, and first responders said the female driver was ejected from the SUV. (WHNT)
- Lana Del Rey has announced an upcoming concert in Huntsville. The singer-songwriter has been spotted recently in North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley, including a stop in Florence to work a shift at a Waffle House. Del Rey will perform at the Orion Amphitheater on Sep. 21, and tickets go on sale this Friday, Aug. 25, at 10:00 a.m. (WHNT)
