Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:
- On Tuesday, Mar. 6, a driver crashed into a Huntsville police officer’s SUV, while the officer was working traffic control on Research Park Boulevard. The officer is not injured, but the Huntsville Police Department is reminding drivers to watch out for police and other first responders on the roads. - Daniel Sharp of Huntsville was indicted by a Madison County grand jury on five felony sex crime charges involving a 13-year-old girl who he met online. His charges included rape, sodomy, electronic solicitation, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, and transmitting obscene material to a child. Sharp was arrested in April 2021 by the Huntsville Police Special Victims Unit. (WAAY)
- The Huntsville area's apartment construction boom is still going strong, with building permits issued for two complexes totaling almost $56 million in the past week. The Elroy, which will have 191 units and is being developed by Ramston Capital, and Attain at Bradford Creek, with seven buildings near Huntsville International Airport, received permits.
