Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey was unable to appear in person at last Thursday's Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce meeting, but she addressed the guests via video to present the 2023 Alabama Update. In her remarks, Ivey made special mention of Huntsville's unemployment rate, which she called, "historical," at 1.4 percent. State Finance Director Bill Poole spoke at the meeting and shared that the governor supports an investigation into the Biden administration's delay in announcing the location of U.S. Space Command headquarters. (Huntsville Business Journal)
  2. Huntsville Fire and Rescue responded to a fire on Sunday evening at the former Plamor bowling alley on Leeman Ferry Road. According to the fire department, five trucks were on the scene to contain the fire. No injuries were reported, and investigators are still determining the cause of the fire. (WHNT)
  3. There was a wreck on Monday morning on Interstate 565 in Huntsville near the Greenbriar exit. According to a spokesperson with Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, one person was trapped inside a vehicle that flipped over. It is unclear how many other vehicles were involved, but five people were transferred to Huntsville Hospital where two people are in stable condition and three people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
