Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Since its establishment in 1954, the Harris Home for Children has been dedicated to providing care and support to children in North Alabama and beyond. To reach out to the growing community, the organization is reintroducing itself and seeking community support through the Harris Home Heroes fundraising campaign. Despite facing financial challenges during the pandemic, the nonprofit continues to offer a range of residential foster programs, including crisis services and an independent living program, with the goal of assisting young individuals in their transition to independent living and preventing homelessness after leaving foster care. (WHNT)
  2. During a traffic stop on Rime Village Drive, a Huntsville Police officer was injured on Sunday evening following an altercation. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver involved in the incident has not been located. (WHNT)
  3. On May 19, Huntsville City FC is scheduled to play its inaugural game at Joe Davis Stadium against Crown Legacy FC. Although they have yet to win a game this season, the team is optimistic that playing at Joe Davis Stadium will have a positive impact on their performance. The field at the stadium will be named Wicks Family Field as a recognition of the family's longstanding contributions to the city and their dedication to promoting sports in the region. (WAFF)
