How to ensure you have comfortable, clean air in your home

Home heating and A/C has come a long way. Old systems used simple slide-in box filters that captured only large particles and that any do-it-yourselfer could change.

Today’s systems are more sophisticated — and much more effective. They utilize electrostatic or even HEPA filters, UV and UVC light to kill mold, bacteria and viruses. The result is much cleaner indoor air — a boon for pet owners, people with allergies and anyone concerned about airborne pathogens, like Covid.

But to take advantage of this technology for your home, you need the highest quality HVAC experts and technicians. That’s where the folks at Aire Serv of Huntsville come in. Scott Taylor and his team have over 30 years of experience in HVAC systems and work with the latest technology. They can install a new air quality system, or — for just $13.25 a month — maintain your current system, to make sure it’s running efficiently.

As a member of the Neighborly family of companies, Aire Serv offers up-front pricing, red carpet customer service and the ‘Done Right Promise’: if you’re unhappy for any reason, call within 60 days and Aire Serv will make it right.

  1. The City of Huntsville is taking steps to become more environmentally sustainable. The Huntsville Environmental Sustainability Committee, established by Mayor Tommy Battle, has completed nine months of research, covering areas of such as transportation, built environment, energy, food security, and natural environment. The study has provided valuable information for the city, allowing the Mayor and the Committee to set some goals for sustainability and learn about existing efforts that are not as well known. (WAFF)
  2. One person is in custody after a shooting near Pulaski Pike and Beasley Avenue. Officers were called to respond by a deputy in the area who heard the shots at 3:50 p.m. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The officers took one person into custody but haven't announced any charges. (WHNT News 19)
  3. The Huntsville Hospital's Fever and Flu Clinic, a temporary COVID-19 testing site, will close on Apr. 28 due to the dramatic drop in Covid-19 hospitalizations and the impending expiration of the National Public Health Emergency. It's estimated that over 57,000 people visited the facility to be tested for COVID-19 over the past three years. Other test locations remain, and vaccinations can be received from a primary doctor. All the staff at the closing location will be moved to other sites and positions within the hospital system. (WHNT News 19)
