- The Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville was a major consultant on the now-missing Titan submersible. The agency consulted on materials and manufacturing processes but did not do the testing or manufacturing in-house. The agency expressed regret for the mishap and hope for a successful rescue in a statement issued Wednesday. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- The Alabama Space Science Commission vote last May regarding the removal of the Saturn B1 Rocket from the North Alabama Welcome Center is moving forward. NASA, the rocket's owner, has requested it be taken down. However, the aging rocket may still be protected under the Monument Preservation Law of 2017. If it is not, there is still hope for a replica to be situated instead of the original, due to a new bill passed this month by Sen. Tom Butler. (AL.com)
- "Jazz in the Garden" at Drake State University today (Jun. 23) will commemorate the 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of the institution of the Alabama Community College System. The otherwise annual event is a fundraiser. Live jazz and R&B music will be featured, with Kayoband as the headliner. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the music starts at 6:00 p.m. (WHNT News 19)
