Huntsville/Madison County Chamber: Huntsville Hospital CEO: 70K Need To Get Vaccinated In Madison County

Huntsville Hospital CEO Jeff Samz is urging more people to get vaccinated. He spoke on the topic on Sept. 1 during the City of Huntsville’s weekly COVID-19 briefing. Samz stated these numbers for Madison County:
- We currently have 150,000 unvaccinated people
- 50,000 are children under age 12, unable to get the vaccine
- Of the 100,000 people left who can get vaccinated, 70 percent (70,000 people) need to get the vaccine to help get our community past this pandemic
“We don’t need a few people to get vaccinated. We need 70,000 people to go get vaccinated,” Samz stressed.

As of September 2, Huntsville Hospital had 208 in-patients, with 45 in ICU, and 35 on ventilators. According to Samz, 90 percent of those cases are unvaccinated people.
