Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:
- A Huntsville man has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of his wife. Officers charged Michel Gedeon, 26, with murder in the death of Keyonna Worley, 22. Officials responded to the couples home on Sunday, Jul. 9 for calls of an unresponsive person. Upon arrival, they discovered Worley dead and took Gedeon into custody where he is being held at the Madison County Jail. (WHNT)
- Nine schools in the Madison County School System will be getting new principals for the 2023-2024 school year. This amounts to a third of the schools in the district that will see a change in leadership for the upcoming year. Three elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school, along with Central School and Madison County Virtual Academy have been assigned new principals. (WAFF)
- The Huntsville Land Trust is taking on a project that would bring a new greenway to Monte Sano. The Tollgate Greenway would increase safety for bikers and pedestrians by providing a multi-use asphalt trail that bikers could use to access the top of the mountain. The City of Huntsville has pledged $500,000 to fund the project, but the Land Trust needs to raise an additional $500,000 to fully fund the greenway.
