Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:

  1. In case you missed it, on Tuesday, Aug. 29, Alabama House Representative David Cole (R) was arrested and is facing charges of voting fraud after being accused of voting in the wrong district. Cole represents House District 10, which includes Huntsville, although he has faced questions about his residency in the area since 2022. In May 2023, Cole was the subject of a three-hour deposition brought by state representative Elijah Boyd (L) that led to Cole's charge of fraud-voting at multiple or unauthorized locations. (WAFF)
  2. This weekend, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville will be welcoming the "Roaming with Perseverance" roadshow. The exhibit includes full-size models of the NASA-built Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter. Throughout the weekend, there will be special presentations by members of the Mars 2020 mission team, as well as Mars-themed activities at the Spark!Lab invention center. On Sunday, Sep. 3, Dr. Stanley Do will be at the INTUITIVE® Planetarium at 7:00 p.m. to present a guided tour of Mars' surface. Click here to learn more or buy tickets. (Huntsville Business Journal)
  3. Join in the Labor Day festivities in Huntsville with the 16th Annual Caribbean Day at The Park, organized by the Caribbean Association of North Alabama Inc (CANA) at John Hunt Park in Huntsville on Sep. 3. Celebrate with a day filled with family-friendly activities, Caribbean culture, and delicious food. Attendees can enjoy complimentary attractions like face-painting, arts and crafts, and a petting zoo, while also contributing to Christmas Charities with donated items. (hvilleblast.com)
