Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:
- Kömmerling USA has announced that it will be expanding its Huntsville facility in Chase Industrial Park. The expansion will bring in new production lines for the manufacture of window and door profiles, which will also result in additional jobs at the Huntsville facility. The company currently makes window and door profiles at its other facilities, but the Owner and CEO of profine Group Dr. Peter Mrosik explained that the Huntsville expansion is an important part of the business's growth strategy. - On Tuesday, Jul. 17, Huntsville Fire and Rescue crews responded to a garage explosion. The incident occurred at a home on Asbury Road. Multiple crews responded to the scene, and Assistant Fire Marshal Trent Bennet said there would be more information available soon. (WHNT)
- The Huntsville Animal Shelter is experiencing overcrowding and is seeking foster and adoptive families. In the week leading up to the Fourth of July, the shelter took in more animals than usual, including 26 animal surrenders in a single day. As of last Thursday, Jul. 15, the shelter had 73 dogs and 64 cats available. (Subscription: AL.com)
