  1. The Huntsville Police Department recently paired up for a run with Running 4 Heroes to honor Officer Garrett Crumby and all fallen law enforcement and first responders in Alabama. At the finish line, the Running 4 Heroes co-founder Zechariah Cartledge presented the Crumby family with a flag he had held during his run, which was followed by 21 seconds of silence in remembrance for the fallen. The event took place in downtown Huntsville on Saturday and was about a mile long race. (WHNT News 19)
  2. A study conducted by the Center for Management and Economic Research at University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), shows the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology to be a major economic driver for Alabama. Since its inception in 2006, HudsonAlpha has made a $4.2 billion impact on Alabama’s economy. By adding jobs, providing the highest quality of tools, and making scientific discoveries in genomics, HudsonAlpha increased its economic impact by 31% over the past two years. (Alabama NewsCenter)
  3. Nine North Alabama High Schools ranked in the top 30 best public high schools in the state. The score was based on academics and grades, but also other factors including health and safety, clubs and activities, diversity, and surveys from parents, teachers, and students. Two Madison County schools ranked highest of the nine listed. James Clemens claimed the highest spot for North Alabama coming in sixth, and Bob Jones High School ranking ninth. (WHNT News 19)
