Here are the top four stories today in Huntsville:
- Huntsville police are investigating a shooting that happened on Access Road at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. The victim of the shooting is expected to survive and arrived at Huntsville Hospital in a personal vehicle. Officers are also investigating near Gallatin Road in relation to the call but have offered no further details at the time of this writing. (WHNT News 19)
- The Movers For Moms donation drive is being held now through May 5 to collect essential items for local moms in need. Items needed include but are not limited to diapers, deodorant, baby rice, oatmeal, wipes, and razors. All items collected will be donated in time for Mother's Day on May 12. (WAFF)
- Huntsville police reported that one person has been injured due to a two-vehicle wreck. The wreck occurred at Capshaw Road and Tate Drive, and the department reported that the injured person was taken to the hospital. The injuries are reported to be minor. (WHNT News 19)
- The Arc of Madison County is improving services and support for children with disabilities. Just in time for early intervention week in Alabama, the organization is sharing what they do for people with special needs and why early intervention is so important. The organization was founded nearly 70 years ago and has since added residential programs, an Outpatient Services Clinic, and a new Autism Diagnostic Clinic. (WHNT News 19)
