Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:
- The Huntsville city council recently voted to approve a license for Porter Transfer Express to operate a shuttle service for local residents. As the area experiences rapid growth, city leaders say that the new shuttle service will provide another option for public transportation, especially for people who do not own or have access to a vehicle. A date has not yet been set for when the new shuttle service will launch. (WHNT)
- The Huntsville Planning Commission has approved the construction of a new criminal forensics building, which is set to be located across the street from the city's criminal justice complex. The facility will be part of the Huntsville Police Department and will include two structures - a warehouse and a crime scene investigation building - that will each be around 15,000 square feet. The criminal forensics building will include offices, areas to examine and prepare evidence, and areas to store and process evidence. (AL.com)
- Huntsville veterans can attend free weekly yoga classes through the Veterans Yoga Project, a national nonprofit organization. Local Air Force veteran and yoga teacher Kristi Clark has been leading free classes since April, and class attendees say that yoga has helped reduce their physical pain and anxiety. Clark leads a 90-minute class every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Move with Resilience yoga studio that is free for veterans, their families, and first responders. Another free class is offered for veterans registered with the Huntsville Vet Center that occurs every other Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (WHNT)
