  1. The Union Cycliste Internationale Para-cycling Road World Cup is headed to Huntsville from May 26-29. This marks the first time this event has been held in the United States and is expected to bring 300 para-athletes along with their families and support teams to the city. The event includes individual time trials, road races, and a handcycle team relay. (WHNT News 19)
  2. The Huntsville City Council has approved a development agreement with Food City, which plans to invest $90 million to build six new stores and create 1,350 jobs over the next five years in Huntsville. The first three locations in Phase I of the agreement will be in Hampton Cove, on North Memorial Parkway, and U.S. 72 East, with construction set to begin in May and the first store opening in the fall of 2023.   3. A man from nearby Guntersville has been convicted of first-degree sexual assault on a child under the age of 12 and committing incest. The Marshall County jury deliberated for only 40 minutes before reaching a verdict. Prosecutors are seeking a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the defendant, Lawson James Lewis Miller, Sr. (Alabama)
